  • About

Anise (anís) is the seed of Pimpinella anisum, an herb of the carrot family, and is used very much in the making of Mexican breads, pastries, syrups, sweets, and liqueurs. It also goes into sauces, particularly moles like mole poblano. The anise used in Mexico is much smaller than that generally available in the United States, with a stronger flavor.
