Little chiles about 1 inch long, skinny, pointed, and extremely hot. Eaten both dried and fresh, either green or red. Probably many of the chiles grown as cayenne chiles in different countries are close to this type. The Sichuanese cuisine of China uses dried chiles very similar to the árbol.
