Fresh From Poland: New Vegetarian Cooking from the Old Country

  • About
Poles have vodka in their veins. In Poland, the culture of drinking vodka is very strong. Every party has to have a bottle, even family gatherings. Many people claim that vodka is tasteless, odorless, and lacking in character, and it’s true that the flavor is very difficult to describe. Most Polish vodkas are made with wheat, rye, or potatoes. I once went to a vodka tasting. The flavors of the different vodkas were completely different, but the most impressive part: the finish. You’ll feel a punch: in your stomach for rye-based vodka, throat for potato-based, and mouth for wheat-based. Drinking vodka is certainly a learned experience.
