To keep fish fresh for 12–15 days, rub it with powdered salicylic acid* and wrap in a clean napkin. Wash in several waters before using.

To rectify spoiled fish, rub the fish thoroughly with this powder and then wash in several changes of water.
Powdered salicylic acid is sold at the druggist’s for 60 kopecks per ounce.
