This, the strongest of all thymes, has already been mentioned in connection with restoratives, and makes a most excellent infusion. Regularly taken in this form it combats winter ills.

It grows in maritime situations in the mountains and also on the shore in the Mediterranean. It has tiny spiky leaves, produces a dense mass of purple flowers, and is of shrubby growth. To be gathered in June when in full flower. Used for roasts and grills as well as daubes.

Awkwardly enough, it is just another timo (or tumu) in the Salento.
