Juanita Blaz lives in Dededo Village, the most populous town on Guam. Situated on the northernmost tip, Dededo’s shoreline is a spectacle of mountain cliffs, dense foliage, and jade waters peppered by submerged coral. Large rock formations sit along the coast, ancient faces chiseled by thousands of storms.
A mother of five who was born and raised on the island, Juanita has a broad face with pronounced cheekbones, often with a furrow in her brow alongside a sly smile that reflects an intensity, a toughness.
