The south of Italy has also always been well known for its ‘vini da meditazione’, which literally translates as wines for meditation, wines that require a moment of calm reflection in order for them to be properly appreciated. These are sweet dessert wines, made from native varieties of grapes such as Malvasia and Moscato, which are turned into wines such as Passito. They are ideal for drinking with dessert or for lingering around the table with friends at the end of a meal.
