Coating a Cake Pan

  • About
Some cake recipes need an additional coating of flour after greasing the pan. Sugar, breadcrumbs and chopped or sliced nuts may also be used.

For a flour, sugar or breadcrumb coating: sprinkle the greased pan generously with coating, making sure it reaches the edges. Turn and shake the pan to coat the surface evenly. Tap it upside down on the work surface to remove excess flour.

For a nut coating: sprinkle the greased pan with nuts, shake it and press the nuts on to the sides.
