  • About
To make handling a cake easier, set it on a piece of cardboard before you start.
  1. With a serrated knife, trim the crusty edges from the cake. With scissors, trim the cardboard level with the edge of the cake.

  2. With the point of a knife make a small cut in the side of the cake. This makes sliced layers easy to line up when reassembling the cake.

  3. Cut the cake in horizontal layers, holding your hand firmly on top of the cake to guide the knife.
