Sour Cream is cream that has been fermented with lactic acid cultures that yields a creamy, thick, tangy product. It can be used as a condiment, in baking cakes as well as making frosting and is also used in cooking. Sour cream adds great flavor and moisture to baked goods.

In a pinch, plain Greek yogurt is a great substitute for sour cream in cake recipes.
