Most of these recipes call for ingredients you can find at any decent market, but from time to time you’ll see some more unusual things, from amaranth flour to ginger syrup to pretzel salt. Cookbooks used to have detailed resource guides, but in this internet age, you can find everything online. If you don’t live near a Whole Foods, Sprouts, or good gourmet or health-food store, Google will take you to such quality vendors as Bob’s Red Mill, Sur la Table, and Penzeys Spices.
