A sour glass is narrow at the stem and widens out towards the top. It’s traditionally used for serving sours straight up, but I use it for lots of other cocktails served in the same way.
In terms of other glassware available or necessary, there are of course many different kinds, including wine glasses (useful for serving spritzs and spritzers), sherry glasses, coupes, liqueur glasses and sake glasses. The five listed here are the essential ones you should keep on hand for most purposes. We also have water glasses, which are halfway between a highball and a shot glass. As with so much, the glasses you buy will depend on what you like.
