Rotary Evaporator

A piece of laboratory equipment used for distillation – it distills liquids in a vacuum rather than at atmospheric pressure, which allows you to distill them at a low temperature. I have one made by Buchi, which is Swiss and the oldest brand available. They also make ones that are fairly inexpensive (through they’re still around £5000 (US$6440) for a brand-new one). You can also find them second-hand. Pharmaceutical companies sell them off, for example, and you can buy them on eBay for about £1500 (US$1930). For an enthusiast this is a great option for trying something at home.
