Centrifugal or Cold-Pressed Juicer

  • About
There are two kinds of juicer that produce a good yield: centrifugal and cold-press. Centrifugal juicers use a fast-spinning blade that extracts the juice from the flesh by centrifugal force, then directs the juice and pulp into separate containers. Cold-press juicers crush and then press fruit and vegetables slowly and therefore extract the biggest yield. The problem with centrifugal juicers is that the spinning generates a lot of heat, which destroys some of the enzymes in the fruits and vegetables you’re juicing; and with cold-press juicers it’s the cost. Cold-press juicers used to be really expensive – well over £1000 (US$1285) – but because there are more and more on the market now, the prices are coming down to around £300 (US$385).
