Ground Vanilla is one of the lesser-known forms, and an interesting one at that. Not to be confused with vanilla powder, this stuff is in fact ground whole beans; it comes packaged in tiny jars. Because it contains both the ground-up pod and the vanilla caviar, its flavor is even stronger than that of vanilla bean paste. Additionally, flecks of ground vanilla are a bit larger than vanilla caviar, making it perfect for rustic, textured baked goods in which caviar alone would get lost.
