  • About
A traditional Angus sweet, still made in Brechin, of various colours and flavours—peppermint, clove, lemon, cinnamon and ginger—in short, thin sticks. Unlike most rock, it does not become brittle in the mouth, but resolves itself into a stubborn ball of hard caramel. The rolling of the rock causes the sections to assume a star-like appearance.
Other favourites includes Sugar-ally (liquorice), Sugar-bools (small round sugar-plums like marbles), Lettered Rock, Pan Drops (mint imperials) and such local specialities as Carluke Balls, Hawick Balls and Moffat Whirlies (dark brown glistening toffee twisted with pale amber).
