  • About
Colloquially referred to as Asian greens, these two crop species include a number of cultivars with similar growth habits and requirements, such as giant red mustard, bok choy, komatsuna, mizuna, and tatsoi. These nutrient-dense staples of East Asian cuisine are gaining traction elsewhere because of their flavor and texture. Many commercially available spring salad mixes include baby leaf Asian greens that add bitterness and pepperiness to baby lettuce, which on its own can be quite bland. These fast-growing greens are a must in my spring and fall gardens. After a long brutal winter, it’s incredibly rewarding to harvest fresh homegrown greens right from my backyard.
