Add the seeds or peppercorns to a large skillet over medium heat without oil. Cook, stirring constantly, until the seeds begin to brown—5 to 10 minutes. The timing required for toasting will vary depending on the type of seeds. Be watchful once the seeds or peppercorns begin to brown to avoid burning them. Store in an airtight jar.
