  • About
An important ingredient in many Silk Road desserts, sugar syrup is easy to make at home. The following recipe takes about 10 minutes and produces about 1 cup of syrup. In a tightly closed jar, it will keep for 3 months in a cool place.
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon rose water (optional)
  • Combine the sugar and water in a pot. Bring to a boil, reduce the heat and simmer for 4 minutes, being careful not to let the mixture boil over.
  • Remove the pot from the heat, stir in the lime juice and rose water, and set aside to cool. Then pour into a jar for storage.
