Nori Seaweed Sheets

  • About
Paper-thin nori sheets are made from laver, a highly nutritious seaweed. Used predominantly for making sushi, they are available already toasted (greenish in colour) or untoasted (black) from Asian and Japanese food stores. Toasted nori sheets have improved flavour and texture. To toast, hold a black nori sheet with a pair of tongs over a direct flame for a few seconds. Once a packet of nori sheets has been opened, the sheets should be kept in a sealed, dry container as they deteriorate when exposed to moisture.
