  • About

Ruby Cabernet, fell from 35,835 tonnes in 2004 to 13,206 tonnes in 2013. This strictly non-premium workhorse cross, used mainly for colour, is in retreat in the face of surplus Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon in Riverland and Riverina, where most Ruby Cabernet is planted. Most is used as a blend component in casks (see boxes) and low-priced, generic, bottled wine.
