  • About

The country has 17 vine varieties officially recognized for wine production—and 16 table grape varieties are planted, accounting for 15% of the total vineyard area. The most common varieties for red wine are the Azeri Madrasa, Saperavi, and Cabernet Sauvignon. Bayahshira is the main autochthonous white wine grape and Rkatsiteli and Chardonnay are also planted. New vineyards are being planted with Pinot Blanc, Alicante, Mtsvane, Viognier, Syrah, Grenache, and Muscat.
