Bouchalès is a dark-berried vine variety still grown to a limited extent in Bordeaux and in the Lot-et-Garonne département. It is not particularly easy to graft or grow and total French plantings fell from over 4,000 ha/9,900 acres in 1968 to less than 200 ha/500 acres by the 21st century.
