Central Coast, one of california’s umbrella avas, this sprawling wine region technically encompasses all of the land from San Francisco to Los Angeles, and inland from the coast almost to the central valley. In practice, the important and unique viticultural areas referenced by the name are concentrated in a mid-section of this too-broad appellation, the counties of monterey, san luis obispo, and santa barbara.
