Dunkelfelder, dark-skinned german cross notable mainly for the depth of its colour, a useful commodity in Germany’s blending vats. It is popular with growers if not consumers. German plantings totalled 314 ha/776 acres in 2012, half in Pfalz. Also grown in Switzerland and England.
