  • About

German term for young wine popularly consumed before bottling—generally cloudy and often still fermenting—and typically referred to in Austria as Sturm or heuriger. Confusingly, the term Federweisser is used in German-speaking Switzerland to refer collectively to white wines made from black grapes.
