Frappato, increasingly celebrated Sicilian red grape variety, which can add fruit and floral freshness to nero d’avola and nerello Mascalese in the south east of the island, notably Cerasuolo di Vittoria DOCG. Probably a descendant of ciliegiolo, it was grown on a total of 752 ha/1,857 acres in 2010.
