  • About

Spanish synonym for the red-fleshed alicante bouschet, Tintorera being Spanish for ‘dyer’ or teinturier. Spain grew 20,082 ha/29,602 acres acres of this variety in 2011, more than a third as much as garnacha Tinta.

Over half is in Castilla-La Mancha, south of Madrid where its deep colour is presumably much appreciated.
