(l’Institut National de la Recherche Agronomique). Founded just after the Second World War in 1946, the French specialist organization for agronomic research is under the control of both the Ministry for Scientific Research as well as the Ministry of Agriculture.

There are 18 separate research centres in France; the one in Montpellier has specialist units in oenology and viticulture which actively cooperate with Montpellier SupAgro, with which it shares a campus. INRA Bordeaux specializes in viticulture.
