Middle Eastern country which produces a small amount of wine each year from a total wine grape area of about 400 ha/1,000 acres, of which Zumot, an organic producer of the Saint George label founded in 2000 at Sama Al Sarhan in northern Jordan, the main region of production, own nearly 300 ha/741 acres. Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz (sic), Merlot, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Pinot Grigio were the most popular varieties. Most of the country’s 4,000 ha/9,884 acres of vines are dedicated to table grapes.
