  • About

Five Year Old Reserve, madeira is a blended five-year-old wine, some or all of which will have undergone estufagem in tank. A proportion of the blend is likely to have been aged in cask. Most are made from the Negramoll and Complexa grapes but some are made from the so-called noble varieties (see above). The use of the term ‘Reserve’ was complicated by the fact that one shipper, Pereira d’Oliveira, bottled frasqueira (vintage) wines as ‘Reservas’.
