Maranges, the southernmost village wine appellation in the Côte de Beaune district of Burgundy, produces medium-bodied red wines of some charm when young. The vineyard stretches across the three villages of Cheilly, Dezize, and Sampigny, each of which takes Les Maranges as a suffix. Formerly the wines were sold either under the village name or, much more frequently, as Côte de Beaune-Villages. Since 1988, such wines may be called Maranges or Maranges Côte de Beaune. White wines counted for only 10% of production in 2012 but are becoming more common.
