  • About

McLaren Vale, intensively planted, historic south australian wine region especially noted for rich reds, from 126 producers in 2014. These have a distinctive and often useful dash of dark chocolate in their makeup. More controversial is their level of alcohol: seldom less than 14.5% and sometimes in excess of 15.5%. The winemakers’ response is that they are not seeking high alcohol, simply waiting for the right flavour development.
