  • About

Moscadello, sometimes Moscadelleto, name for the muscat blanc à petits grains grown in and around montalcino in central Italy. Moscadello was the major wine of Montalcino for centuries, being cited by English travellers in the 17th and 18th centuries, long before anyone even noted the presence of important reds. The firm Villa Banfi made an important investment in selling this sweet grapey, fizzy white wine in the 1980s, hoping to repeat the commercial success of lambrusco but to little avail.
