  • About

Muscat de Rivesaltes has become the most important appellation of the Rivesaltes region in roussillon grown on 4,856 ha/11,994 acres of vineyard and is by far the biggest Muscat appellation in France. Unlike the four Muscat vins doux naturels listed above, and the one listed below, it is currently made mainly from muscat of alexandria with some muscat blanc à petits grains, although the latter is encouraged in new plantings. Much of it is of decidedly ordinary quality, based on planting of the lesser Muscat of Alexandria on the plain, although Domaine Cazes and Domaine de Chênes produce some superior bottlings. For more details, see rivesaltes.
