musqué is a French term meaning both ‘perfumed’, as in musky, and ‘muscat-like’. Many vine varieties, including chardonnay, have a Musqué mutation which is particularly aromatic and may add to the variety’s own characteristics a grapey scent reminiscent of muscat.
