Nebbiolo, great black grape variety responsible for some of the finest and longest-lived wines in the world. It has been known in the piemonte region in the north west since at least the 13th century, and is its most distinctive and distinguished vine. The quality of wines such as barolo and barbaresco inspires hopeful planting of the variety all over the world.
