plastic bottles, form of packaging, usually from the material known to professionals as PET, an abbreviation for polyethylene terephthalate. They have the advantage of being generally much lighter, cheaper, and less breakable than glass bottles, but the disadvantage that, depending on what they are lined with, they are not inert. Wine can start to taste of the package itself after only a few months.
