Plumpton in Sussex offers a variety of land-based courses and has been the leading centre of wine academe in the UK since 1988, offering a wide range of wset courses but also degree courses. Plumpton is the only European provider of undergraduate courses in wine production and wine business in English. With 8 ha/20 acres of its own commercial vineyards, Plumpton works closely with the english wine industry. Its Rathfinny research centre, sponsored by a large local English wine producer, was opened in 2014, the same year that the UK’s first MSc course in viticulture and oenology was introduced.
