French for harvest. A récoltant is therefore a grower. In champagne, a récoltant-manipulant (identified by ‘RM’ on the label) is a grower who also makes his or her own champagne, of whom there are more than 3,000 in the region, as opposed to a récoltant-coopérateur, who sells champagne made by a co-operative, of whom there are slightly more.
