Rouge du Pays, rare Swiss valais red grape used to make deep-coloured red wines. Confusingly renamed Cornalin du Valais in 1972. The vine demands a fairly warm climate, and it took the research institute at changins to induce some sort of regularity of yield. dna profiling at davis showed that Rouge du Pays is the progeny of petit rouge and Mayolet, two varieties from the aosta Valley, and a parent of true cornalin, hence the confusion with the new name.
