Seibel 5898, french hybrid red wine variety grown in the north eastern united states. Very productive and winter hardy, it produces deep-coloured wines with few hybrid aromas, and sometimes has a meaty note, but needs considerable attention because of its susceptibility to both downy mildew and powdery mildew.
