Royalty, also known as Royalty 1390, a complex california hybrid vine variety with red flesh, a teinturier. It was bred principally for its colour and was released in 1958 along with the similar but much more successful rubired. There is little regal about this particular variety, which is difficult to grow, although a few hundred acres persist, almost exclusively in the hot san joaquin valley.
