Rufete, late-ripening vine variety, previously known as Tinta Pinheira, capable of making fruity red wines and lightish port in the north of Portugal, where plantings had fallen to 3,342 ha/8,258 acres by 2012, and in Castilla-León where more than 700 ha grew in the same year. Grapes need to be fully ripe for the wine to succeed.
