San Francisco Bay

San Francisco Bay, commercially expedient, geographically extensive ava that includes livermore valley, santa cruz mountains, and Contra Costa County where generally ancient red wine vines are still grown on more than 1,000 acres/405 ha of often sandy soils. The Bay Area is also home to many an urban winery, generally ageing wines grown well to the north.
