Vinsobres, one of the better Côtes du Rhône villages, awarded its own red wine appellation in 2006. The relatively high, cool vineyards, which suit Syrah better than most in the southern Rhône, totalled 441 ha/1,089 acres in 2013. The wine must include at least 80% Grenache with the rest of the blend made up of the usual southern rhône varieties.
