Vitaceae, the family in the plant kingdom which includes the genus vitis containing the grapevine. There are 14 genera altogether with about 900 species, which are spread through tropical and temperate zones around the world. The plants in the family are characteristically climbers with leaves opposite tendrils. See also botanical classification.
