weeder, implement used in vineyards for removing weeds, typically from the vine row. These machines, usually mounted on a tractor, have fallen from favour owing to the death of some vines, and the introduction of some diseases because of vine injury. In many parts of the world, the use of undervine weeders has been replaced by herbicides.
