Spend some time thinking about where to build your oven. It is best to position it close to your own domestic kitchen. Consider the wood-fired oven area an extension of the house — if your wood-fired oven is easy to get to, whatever the weather, then you are much more likely to use it all year round. Our wood-fired oven is about 5m/16ft from the house and is at the end of some decking, so it’s always dry underfoot, and a canvas roof means we are always under cover.
Even a small oven like this, without insulation or cladding, can reach high temperatures and cook excellent pizzas.
