The temperature in the oven will drop naturally once the fire has died down, but if you want to drop the temperature more quickly you can:
- Leave the door open to encourage the heat to come out of the door.
- Sweep the base of your oven with a wet dish towel attached to a metal peel.
- Rake over the embers with a coal hook to spread them into a single layer, rather than leaving them in a bank, which will retain the heat longer.
